Describing Art for a Beginner

My daughter Jamie enjoys fun projects. First, she selected a 4 X 6 colored paper sheet. Next, she cut out the blue star. Then she used dot markers to decorate the star. Finally, she glued the blue star to the paper. After completing the project she described it. She said, “This is a blue star with blue dots glued to an orange piece of colored paper.”

The purpose of this project is to describe in detail what was made. This is a great communication skill. First, the student is showing what they made. Then they are telling what they did. This is the skill that I teach in my workbook. In addition, describing the star is a great communication skill. Your student will have fun, and they will not realize they are learning!

The next project that I will be showing you will be Describing Art for the advanced communication device user. Check back soon to see the next exciting project.
