After your child is able to describe one item that they have made, you can teach them how to make an entire scene. In this picture my daughter, Jamie had six stencils to make an entire outdoor scene. She traced and colored a boy and a girl playing ball. She also traced six clouds and a red bird, two green trees and two blue flowers and a brown rabbit.
When the artwork is complete, then ask your child to describe the scene. Jamie used her communication device to say this: It is a cloudy day in the picture. There are two children playing ball outside. I see a brown rabbit and two blue flowers and two green trees. One tree is larger than the other. I also see a red bird in the sky.
